The debut single from Ray Laurél is the excellent ‘Hunter Schafer’. It’s an electronic indie track that leans into his eclectic compositional style that takes influence from the smooth R&B of Prince and Frank Ocean and blends it with a modern Bon Iver-esque experimental take on pop production. “[In the summer of 2021), I was going through quite the identity crisis… I started dressing differently, talking differently. I felt myself again. I decided to make a dramatic 'Purple Rain'-esque bop almost as an ode to myself and my newfound freedom.” His debut is dropping this summer; keep an eye out. -Dan Peeke
